Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has put into law a female inheritance measure that will allow Abia women to inherit and possess properties in their father’s family.
Ikpeazu said his administration would continue to promote women. He congratulated women on the bill, which is now officially known as “The Female Persons Right of Inheritance of Property Law 2022.”
The Governor expressed gratitude to the state legislature for having the guts to enact the legislation and made a vow that in carrying out its duties toward state people, his administration will err on the side of reason and common sense.
Women will no longer be considered as second-class citizens, even in their families, according to Ikpeazu, who also referred to the bill as historic.
